Getting lost in London

When in London observe, but beware, the helpful signposts. I got lost following one pointing to the London Metropolitan Archives. Walking from the Society of Genealogists, unhelpfully, someone had turned it around. I noticed others in the same state.

There's such a richness of resources in London you may benefit from if (and when) you do get lost.

I stumbled on the Islington Local History Centre. If you research in London you've probably used the LMA. The nearby Islington LHC is worth a visit if your research includes Islington, or Finsbury, Barnsbury, Bunhill Fields, Canonbury, Highbury, Tollington Park.

There are several other such London borough archives not to be overlooked. Why? You'll get more help from the locally knowledgeable staff than at a larger institution and access to specialized resources, such as local histories, clipping files and newspapers.
