LAC Management Changes

There will soon be a new face in the senior management ranks at Library and Archices Canada. Cecilia Muir, presently Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet in the Privy Council Office, where she led a team responsible for Public Service Renewal, will be joining LAC as Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for the Resource Discovery Sector. That includes responsibility for the services you and I receive as clients.

In 2008 Cecilia Muir is listed as Vice-President of the Public Service Renewal Task Force; in 2006 as Director General, Public Service Renewal and Diversity with the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada; and in 2004 and 2005 as Director General, Office of Disability Issues with Social Development Canada. Prior to that she held positions in Health Canada. She has a Master's Degree in Library Science and started her Public Service career at The National Library of Canada.

Cecilia Muir takes over from Jean-Stéphen Piché who filled the role as Acting ADM for over a year and will move over to lead the Acquisitions Sector. Doug Rimmer, who at one time was in the ADM role to be filled by Cecilia Muir, will become Assistant Deputy Minister of the Collections Management Sector.

These changes will become effective on 22 November, 2010.

I'd like to thank the Office of the Librarian and Archivist, and Alison Bullock, who confirmed and clarified these changes when the LAC Communications group was unable to do so.
