Carlisle's new Archives Centre

Of interest for those with Cumberland roots, as of 1 June Carlisle has a new £8.2 million archives centre housing more than one million documents.

It's covered briefly in this newspaper item. The "bankers" interim visiting hours are here.

The building is south of the centre of Carlisle, off the A6 and quite close to the M6, with free parking.

The news is via an item on the British and Irish Genealogy blog at http://bi-gen.blogspot.com/
