Relative economic value

A previous post on the topic got considerable attention, who isn't interested in money?

The Welsh Genealogy book by Bruce Durie has a short section on relative values. Calculators at the Economic History Services website, www.measuringworth.com/calculators/ppoweruk/ are recommended.

By coincidence BIFHSGO colleague Barbara Tose wrote suggesting looking at a site from the Economic History Association http://eh.net/hmit.

Certainly monetary conversion across the ages is not an exact science and changes in technology mean comparing the prices of different products, even commodities, across the years can lead to vastly different conclusions.
