John Grenham devoted his latest Irish Roots column to an anecdote illustrating the benefit of digitized records.
John,I have a similar story. My Irish ancestors were married in 1853 in Newport, Wales. They were both widowed at the time. The 1861 Census (and any others) has them born in Cork, Ireland, but no indication of where. But it didn't cost me all that money to get the info. Someone with my surname still living in Newport, contacted me almost 20 years ago and looked at the parish records and forwarded me the info that I needed I still don't know if I'm related to this individual, since her family left Ireland about 30 years after mine.Terry Mulcahy
