Limited free access to the 1911 census in the UK

Seven institutions in England and Wales are soon to launch free access to their 1911 census:

• Birmingham Archives & Heritage
• Devon Record Office (Exeter)
• The National Library of Wales (Aberystwyth)
• Manchester Archives and Local Studies and Greater Manchester County Record Office
• Norfolk Record Office
• Nottinghamshire Archives
• Tyne and Wear Archives

These are in addition to the existing free access at TNA.

The announcement, a first encouraging sign for those of us looking for more widespread affordable access, was made by TNA.
