John Grenham's most recent column in the Irish Times
http://www.irishtimes.com/blogs/irishroots/2012/09/30/the-national-library-has-bolted/ reports that the National Library of Ireland has issued a:
request for tender (see tinyurl.ie/agw), seeking a partner to digitise not just genealogical records – primarily parish registers, commercial directories and electoral registers– but also its huge collections of journals, newspapers and photographs."
A few years ago Library and Archives Canada digitized and indexed two Irish census in cooperation with the Irish government. Given LAC's apparent inability to undertake any major digitization and indexing of its holdings, they might well ask for help from their former Irish partner.
