Well, clearly I'm not going to get much else done today! For starters, I have pinpointed my husband's great-grandfather's leather bag factory on Godliman Street. The link to Google Earth helped me narrow down to the correct sheet very quickly. The map tells me that in 1886, it was next door to a "Public House" at the northwest corner of Godliman Street and Knightrider Street, and furthermore, it was a four-storey brick building with windows looking out on a courtyard at the back.
