Oshawa Newspaper Digitization Project

Information from Jennifer Weymark, Archivist at the Oshawa Community Museum and Archives is that the Oshawa Newspaper Digitization Project, funded by the Government of Canada, is one step closer to completion. The hard copy newspapers have been photographed and are ready to be sent out to be made searchable and uploaded to the internet.
A donation of more hard copy newspapers to be added to the project has been received and several OHS members have come forward to assist with covering the cost of digitizing these newspapers.

Local initiatives to digitized local newspapers in Ontario are gaining momentum. When will the challenge of (properly) digitizing the Ottawa Citizen be taken up by a local group.
