There are signs of renewal at The National Library of Ireland which last week launched a new five-year strategy. According to a post in the Irish Times seven years of cuts, during which its annual budgets fell from a high of almost €12 million in 2008 to a low of under €7 million is seeing €10 million in renovations and the hiring of ten new staff members.
While the NLI may fly under the radar for many genealogists compared to www.rootsireland.ie and www.irishgenealogy.ie, it was the organization that placed their entire collection of Catholic parish register microfilms online, subsequently indexed by findmypast and Ancestry.
