Records from Jersey, the largest Channel Island, are the latest addition to Ancestry with 986,000 records and over 68,000 images including birth and burial records as far back as 1541:
Jersey, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1541-1812
Jersey, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1915
Jersey, Church of England Marriages, 1754-1940
Jersey, Church of England Deaths and Burials, 1813-1940
Jersey punched above its weight in terms of migration to Canada, especially Newfoundland and the Maritimes.
I researched on Jersey in 2013. Except for German occupation during the war, Jersey has had a very stable history and a small population, and all FH information is located in one facility in St Helier, so family history research there was ridiculously easy.
ReplyDeleteIn one morning I was able to uncover back to my research subject's 7th great grandfather in the early 1600s! And I spent the rest of the day on the beach! Cheers, BT
