Is it true, as Sandi Renaldo states in this intro to a W5 episode broadcast on Sunday, that a DNA test may reveal "the most intimate details of your life, your health, your very being to corporations and complete strangers"?
I was happy to see a reasonably factual program on DNA. However, for supposed balance, a "privacy expert" from the University of Toronto, insisted that the cooperative deal between 23andme and Glaxo Smith Kline was sinister if not evil because it involved "Big Pharma". There was no further explanation about the "good side" of the relationship and the benefits genetic testing data are critical to formulating new treatments including Alzheimers disease.
I must be one of those precious few who like to contribute to medical research!
