On the eve of International Women's Day Findmypast releases two never before digitized British titles from The ( UK) National Archives.
British Army, Women's Army Auxiliary Corps 1917-1920
Comprises 9,433 records including a transcript — many have images of official forms, medical examinations, telegrams, letters and various other documents.
Those listed associated with Canada are:
Dorothy Jean Gorst (Kingstown, Ontario)
Henrietta Bess Harding (Halifax, Nova Scotia)
Sarah Ellen Hart (Golbourne, Ontario)
Mary Macgregor (Victoria, British Columbia)
Ethel Sangster (St Catherines, Ontario)
Bella Shirran (Dundalk, Ontario)
As with the CEF, some of these women were born in the UK.
British Armed Forces, First World War Disability & Retirement Payments For Officers & Nurses
A total of 36,239 records, mostly men. The records give details of payments of temporary retired pay and gratuities awarded to invalided officers of the three Services, and to nurses in respect of the disabilities for which they were invalided.
Approximately the first 400 have no name indicated although that of a parent, spouse or next of kin may be given.
England & Wales Government Probate Death Index 1858-2019
Findmypast now includes these 9.3 million records dating as far back as 1858. This is the same database as available free at https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills except search is unified across the 1996 division.
