Findmypast has announced that the service provided by second-tier genealogy site Mocavo, acquired by FMP in June 2014, is being merged into findmypast.com/. That makes sense in providing FMP with additional US capability and visibility. 83% of visitors to Mocavo are from the US and it received the endorsement of uber blogger Dick Eastman quoted on the Mocavo site “All my future genealogy searches will start on Mocavo”
For Canadian researchers this amalgamation should make little difference. Findmypast.com is disinterested in Canadian records. Those who know how to perform a Google search with ~genealogy as one of the search terms are unlikely to find additional Canadian content from the Mocavo material in the merged site.
