In a previous post, I wrote about the Digitization Lab at the OPL Beaverbrook Branch. There is now a second Super 8 / 8mm transfer machine and that is available for loan.
Librarian Jennifer Armstrong emailed to let me know it has been very popular so far with users, as the transfer process on this machine is lengthy. Being able to take the equipment home is more convenient.
You can place a hold on the equipment on the Ottawa Public Library website: https://ottawa.bibliocommons. com/item/show/1177453026
Here are a few details about the loanable equipment:
You may place this item on hold. You will have a week to pick up the item once it becomes available for you. There is a waiting list.
You must pick up and return the equipment at the Beaverbrook Branch in person, during our open hours.
The equipment is loaned for one week. Late charges are $10 per day.
This machine is identical to the one available for booking in the Digitization Lab.
It takes up to 5-inch reels and saves to a 32GB SD card. For more details (including the instruction manual and how-to videos) you can visit the website for the equipment here.
Thanks to Jennifer for the information.
