Colonel By Day 2014

Ontario's Civic Holiday, the first Monday in August, is named for Colonel John By, the British Royal Engineer under whose leadership the Rideau Canal was constructed.

The heritage organizations exhibiting were housed in a single tent below the Bytown Museum.

The table for the Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society was well staffed by a happy crew. It was hot and humid, before the rain came, but the OGS folks seemed to prefer those conditions to the cold of the St Patrick's Day parade in which BIFHSGO participates.

Kyla Ubbink attracted a small crowd for a demonstration of bookbinding.

Heritage Ottawa's Linda Hoad and David Jeanes were on hand to answer queries about the organization`s active program of walks and talks.
