The Francis Frith Collection is a well respected source for UK photographs of topographical features - towns, landmarks and landscapes. Ancestry now makes available to subscribers 220,149, at least that's the number claimed in the catalogue. I couldn't find half that number, perhaps uploading was still in progress.
There are photographs for more than 7,000 individual cities, towns, and villages across the UK (England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland). The vast majority are for the 1950s and 60s.
Larger places are well covered, there are 127 images for Leicester from 1939 to 1965, and 291 for Brighton from 1880 to 1955.
