Quebec Naive Artist, Marcel Dargis (Lectures)
10:30 am
Briarwood Presbyterian Church Hall, 70 Beaconsfield Blvd, Beaconsfield
Speaker: Louis E. Leprohon
Marcel Dargis, a Quebec naive artist who has made a very significant contribution to the patrimoine culturel of Quebec. His 750 paintings provide a very unique and exceptional recollection of Francophone life in his parish as he perceived it in the late 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s. His canvases are a realistic interpretation of what life was in a French Canadian Catholic parish during the Duplessis era.
