First Day on the Job for Dr. Guy Berthiaume

Welcome to Dr. Guy Berthiaume as he takes over as Librarian and Archivist of Canada.

With a solid record of leadership in Quebec as both an administrator and academic even before he assumes the role today an improvement in morale has been evident among LAC staff.
He can be sure he has the goodwill of LAC's user community, who hope to be consulted on new directions being taken over the coming months, as he assumes leadership.

We should also express appreciation to Dr Hervé Déry who has served for more than a year as Acting Librarian and Archivist of Canada and managed to calm the turbulent waters left by his predecessor.

On Friday an announcement of changes to the senior ranks of the Public Service sees Patrick Borbey, currently President of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, becoming Associate Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage, effective July 2, 2014.

Such good news to have an excellent head for our Archives. Whew. It's been a difficult year, indeed.
