This war memorial is truly impressive: it elicits an immediate emotional response even when seen only online. I cannot guess at the cost of creating such a memorial, but obviously the people of Carp / West Carlton chose to honour their fallen with a truly moving and inspirational memorial. If only Gravenhurst had done the same. A "newly revised" memorial is being unveiled here this fall, and it will be a sad statement on the value we place on the fallen of Gravenhurst, West Gravenhurst, Morrison Township, Muskoka Township, and Ryde Township which comprise the present Town of Gravenhurst. What a pity!
