Some people think it's only DNA testing that reveals genealogical surprises. Not so. In my own case it was digitized newspapers. If you're not prepared for surprises it's best not to look.
This is a great article and I appreciated the statistics showing the actual instance of finding a criminal or a lack of marriage, etc. It has always been known among genealogists that you might find "skeletons in your closet" when researching. Without statistics many think that you are just passing on rumours. Thanks for sharing this enlightening article. I plan to pass this info on to my local OGS branch.
