Ready for the BIFHSGO Conference?

It's a blessing the BIFHSGO conference starting on Friday with pre-conference workshops and the evening Whiteside Lecture was not scheduled for a week earlier. Those workshops would have just finished when a tornado outbreak hit Ottawa and the building at Centrepointe where the conference is held was thrown out of power for the whole weekend.
Do conference organizers plan for such an eventuality? No, but some lose sleep imagining everything that could go wrong.
The current weather forecast indicates no danger of a tornado — maybe a shower or two. Conference co-chairs Jane Down and Duncan Monkhouse can relax on that account.
