And my 3rd cousin once removed actually John. Thank you for writing about him. Gordon's great grandmother was Margaret (Routledge) Carling and sister to my 2x great grandmnother Mary Ann (Routledge) Gray. Gordon was one of Sir John Carling's grandsons. Sir John having been Minister of Agriculture from 1885 to 1891. We are forever indebted to him for founding the Central Experimental Farm.

John Carling (Gordon’s brother) died during WWI in 1918. My grandfather (Victor Wentworth Thompson) was a good friend with John and they both flew together with the RAF during the Great War. My grandfather wrote about him in his letters while in France & England during
WWI. My grandfather (from Ottawa) is buried at Beechwood Cemetery as well as Gordon and John who are also buried at Beechwood.
So interesting about your family ancestry with the Carlings.
