BIFHSGO conference preview

Now that Gene-O-Rama is becoming a memory for 2010 Ottawa and area genealogists look forward to the other major area annual conference, that of the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa. It will be held on 10 - 12 September at Library and Archives Canada. Mark your calendars.

The major theme in 2010 is Ireland. The featured speaker is William Roulston, Research Director with the Ulster Historical Foundation. Listen to him in a BBC interview at: www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/senseofplace/ramfiles/co-tyrone/omagh/storytelling3.ram. He will present An Introduction to Irish Research; The three Cs: Civil, Church and Census records; Researching the Farming Community in 18th and 19th century Ireland; Researching Scots-Irish Ancestors.

There will be many other presentations, something for everyone, including presentations marking 2010 as the Year of the British Home Child.

Watch www.bifhsgo.ca for further information to be posted and, of course, this blog will post further information too. Stay informed.
