Several letters were published in Saturday's Daily Telegraph about transcription errors in the newly released indexed 1911 English census. For example ..
[ ... Of the four pages I have downloaded, three contain errors: four incorrectly spelt surnames, two incorrect forenames and a misspelt occupation. There is a whole page where the town is given the wrong initial letter, even though the correct name appears on the Enumeration District heading...]
There's always a trade off between timeliness and accuracy, but what seems to bug people most is the high cost given the problems encountered.
