LAC and OPL Letter of Intent

The following is a letter of intent regarding a possible co-location of elements of Library and Archives Canada public interface and a new Central Library for the Ottawa Public Library system signed by the senior executives of both organizations. It was received from LAC earlier today.
A committee is established to bring forward recommendations later this year.

The letter is also available in French.

So, the 98% of taxpaying Canadians who do not live in or near Ottawa will end up paying for a new library for the City of Ottawa.
Why not merge the 2 libraries in a new building, and keep 395 Wellington Street to serve LAC entirely?
