British History Online

All transcribed BHO content is freely available for individual users until 30 September.

The extra 200 volumes now available are predominantly made up of two important series:

the Calendar of Close Rolls, covering the reigns of Henry III to Henry VII (1244 to 1509),
the Calendar of State Papers Domestic, covering the reigns of Edward VI to Anne, 1547 to 1704)

Some of these resources were mentioned in the webinar Sources for Landed and Titled People in England and Wales given by Paul Milner which is available free for a few more days.

Oh thank you John!!!

I just had a wonderful time looking for all the surnames of my family who I know were resident in London in the early 1700s, and then scrolling through an experiment I had never heard of before, a Quaker Workhouse in Clerkenwell, where later many of my family lived.

This is a wonderful resource! Mnay thanks again, and cheers, BT
