New and Updated from Findmypast

From Scotland, British India, and England and Wales come this week's additions to Findmypast.

Scotland, People Of Banffshire & Moray 1150-1857
This collection from north-east Scotland is now 51,113 transcript records augmented this week by another 23,000. The sources are two series of books, the 21 part Banffshire: The People And The Lands plus a few more on specific parishes and; The Lands & People Of Moray in at least 29 parts. As well as names and dates it's the Additional Information that's of interest such as: Granted a certificate of poverty to sue Grant of Ballindalloch; Son of James Reid in Craigellachie, aged 25. Charged with assault; A married man, in adultery with Mary Walker.

Scotland, Burgess & Guild Brethren Index
This index of 64,739 entries "spanning nearly 650 years of occupational records" with the bulk of the records from 1750 to 1850.  Each transcript gives a combination of name, occupation or trade, dates, locations and notable life events.
An advanced search for the word Canada found four entries including James Allan on 15 December 1842 in the collection of Burgesses & Guild Brethren Of Glasgow 1751-1846 with the additional information "merchant, shipowner and agent in Canada trade, 87 Union Street, Burgess and Guild Brother, by purchase" He was the eldest son of Alexander Allan, founder of the trans-Atlantic shipping Allan Line, eventually taken over by Canadian Pacific.

British India Office Deaths & Burials
Additional records for the collection of India Office Deaths & Burials, now 606,185 entries. Transcripts and images of the original record for deaths and burials in the UK, British India, Burma and other territories connected to the India Office (St Helena, Sumatra, Kuwait, Aden, Penang, Macao).

1939 Register Update
