OGS Conference 2020 Cancelled and 2021 Conference to be in Kanata

The following is a message from Dianna Fulton, Conference Chair of OGS Conference 2020.

Dear Conference Attendees, Sponsors, Exhibitors, Speakers, Volunteers and Society Members,

This message is to inform you that this year’s Ontario Ancestors Annual Conference on June 5-7, 2020, has been cancelled, due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The safety of attendees, sponsors, members, public and crew always comes first.

We will be issuing full refunds as soon as possible. If you are interested in turning your refund or part of it into a donation to Ontario Ancestors, please contact Megan at ed@ogs.on.ca to arrange this and we can issue you a tax receipt.

Currently, we are looking to hold a virtual conference on the June 5-7, 2020 date. Details to follow. The Ontario Ancestors AGM will be held online on June 6th at 11 am. More information to come.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and look forward to seeing you all next year in Ottawa.

Information from Steve Fulton, OGS President, is that the 2021 60th Anniversary conference is to be hosted at the Brookside Hotel in Kanata. Ottawa Branch is not organizing. Local volunteers are being sought to help.

Kanata??? Really??? It’s miles from everything in Ottawa that’s of interest to genealogists. And the Brookstreet Hotel is very pricey. Why would the OGS make such a bizarre decision?

It's a few minutes drive from Ottawa straight up the 417.
