John: Watched your video today on Newspapers Online.... decided to try it out. My gg grandfather William Jewell died 25 April 1885 in Tyrconnell, ON. Death registration, which I have, said he died of fractured spine. I always wondered how he fractured his spine. I never seemed to have time to go to LAC and look up his obit or look in the newspapers to see if something was reported on him. So today I used "The Ancestor Hunter" and looked in the "Dutton Enterprise" for 30 April 1885 and bingo there it was. He was driving his wagon home from Dutton to Tyrconnell, hit a rut, was thrown from the wagon, struck his shoulder and sustained fatal injuries. The accident was witnessed. He was 47 years old. So 135 yrs later, almost to the day, I now know how he died. Poor soul.
Thank you for posting the video .... very helpful to me! jane

Very late in the day, John. But what a wonderful overview of available sources. I am forwarding to various family historians in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Albert, B. C. and NY State, for their continuing interest while doing family research at home.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful research, your siphoning the worthy from the less worthy--- for helping us all.

Thank you John - this looks very interesting. I am having problems, however, locating the main heading for the "Collections Page" (to get to the map and alphabetical listing of the different newspapers by Province). Can you explain where I can find it please? Thx.

I'm having difficulty finding what you refer to as the "Collections Page". Please let me know the time on the video you refer to.
